Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Afara.

Adam, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My career started as a Designer/Artist organically at a very young age!

My Mother being an Artist /Painter herself, when I was a kid I use to be intrigued by her mixing paint colors on her Palate and create beautiful paintings of different themes. Also, when she had guests come over I would help her decorate our living room with various flowers and create different shaped arrangements. In a nut shell, this is how it all began. As I grew older and continued my studies, I was inspired to continue and receive several Certificates in Floral & Design leading me to continue to Event Planning and got my Certification as an International Event Planner.

My dedication and hard work got me to where I am today! There are really no short cuts when it comes to “Art” you must be true to yourself and others. I have had so much joy and satisfaction from all my clients being very happy, when I see for instance the faces of the bride & groom as they enter the venue with much astonishment. it continues to keep me inspired and always look for new and bigger projects. This I have done for the past 18 years.

Also, I have had the privilege to be commissioned in designing the sets of several music videos for many celebrities, such as, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, to name a few, and recently designed a large wedding on Reality TV “BRAVO”. Projects as these keep my creative imagination going and always striving to be as original and unique as an individual as possible.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a smooth road, however, there has been some obstacles that I have encountered, mainly some were from the competition in the industry, where I had to be much more private in what I am doing and creating, because there have been several impostures that hijacked my work and ideas, this has made me become much more secretive about what I am doing, more than I would like, because I am a very open person.

I have had some challenges mainly they were financial ones! Sometimes there were some financial struggles between projects, it’s very difficult to plan when you don’t know how many projects you will be having for the year. Therefore, it becomes a challenge when trying to plan and budget for the season or the year.

We had the chance to be presented to many awards that the trade selects to give to specific achievers, such as the Wedding Wire Couples Choice Award, which has been awarded since the year 2010 through 2017 consecutively, The Knot Best of Weddings Award in 2014, 2015,2016 landing the cover of Ceremony Magazine in 2013, and recently on the Cover of EV Magazine with an extensive interview, as well as many features on television and other medias.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans are formulating themselves as we speak! I have had several new offers, one is for a feature film, to design the set for, which I am not able to divulge any details on at the moment. We are still in negotiation.

The changes that I will be doing is that I am restructuring the concept of my business plan. They are not big changes but are improvements on how I have been operating.
